CCTV Inspections
Closed Circuit Television Surveys

There are often times when a problem may occur within a chimney or other dry cavity area which can not easily be seen. In situations such as this, we are able to offer an inspection service that involves pushing a digital camera into the flue in a very similar fashion to sweeping the chimney. The camera will then be able to record high quality footage of what is happening inside and quickly identify any issues that may need resolving.

CCTV Inspection Benefits

There are many benefits to a CCTV chimeny inspection such as:

  • CCTV inspections are the quickest way of identifying potential problems within your chimney without causing too much disturbance and mess. Assessing damage quickly is very beneficial when obtaining quotes for remedial work or for providing evidence for insurance purposes.
  • You will receive footage of the inspection, along with a detailed report identifying any issues. This can be especially useful for landlords or if you are planning on selling your property.
  • Upon completion of the inspection, you will know if it is safe to use your flue or if further action will be required before use.
  • Nests and other blockages are easily discovered with a CCTV inspection. Blockages can often prevent the safe evacuation of combusted gases which can be very dangerous when you use your fireplace, stove or gas appliance.

What Happens During The Inspection

Through The Roof Chimney Sweeping Services are diligent in their task and will take the time needed to ensure a thorough, professional service is provided. Each chimney is unique, so an estimate of the time it will take will be given when the work is discussed.

Prior to the inspection, the flue should not have been used for at least 24 hours and the area around the fireplace will need to be cleared to give the engineers space to work.

The CCTV inspection will then take place and the findings presented in a full written report, highlighting any suggested remedial works. An unsealed smoke test will also be undertaken to visibly inspect for any leakages of smoke into adjacent rooms or structures.

If you have a chimney or flue that hasn't been checked or surveyed recently, then why not contact us today. Whether you are a householder, landlord or surveyor, our friendly professional engineers will be able to discuss your needs and make an appointment at your convenience.
